SGBotic has created a series of Micro:Bit EduFun Mini Project Kits with an aim of making advance devices available to micro:bit inventors. Much efforts have been devoted to designing the MakeCode block packages to remove the complexity of using these devices, making it easier for inventors to incorporate into their projects.
This kit contains the essential components for constructing an automated plant watering system that will maintain the moisture level in soil without human intervention. A sensor with two large, exposed pads to be inserted into the soil is used to measure the moisture level of the soil. More water in the soil will cause higher output signal, and vice versa.
The soil moisture level will be monitored by the micro:bit program, and when it drops below pre-defined level, the water pump will be switched on until the soil is moist enough.

The first project in the printed guide will guide you through the wiring as well as using the MakeCode blocks to monitor the moisture level and to control the water pump. The second project further enhances the functionality of first project by integrating a real time clock so that watering only occurs at scheduled time.

Take note that Micro:Bit, T-Expansion board and breadboard, 2 AAA batteries which are used in the project are not included in this kit. Instead of T-Expansion Board, you can also use any micro:bit breakout board. Project 2 also requires Real Time Clock kit. All of these can be separately purchased from sgbotic.com.
