The Raspberry Pi Infrared-Sensitive Camera Module is a custom designed add-on for Raspberry Pi that does not have an 'IR cut filter' installed. Similar to the regular Pi camera, it attaches to Raspberry Pi by way of one of the two small sockets on the board upper surface. This interface uses the dedicated CSI interface, which was designed especially for extremely high data transfer rates.
This 5MP camera module is capable of 1080p video and still images. The board itself is tiny, at around 25mm x 24mm x 6mm, making it perfect for mobile or other applications where size and weight are important. The sensor has a native resolution of 5 megapixel, and has a fixed focus lens onboard. In terms of still images, the camera is capable of 2592 x 1944 pixel static images, and also supports 1080p30, 720p60 and 640x480p60/90 video.
Two external 1W high power 850nm infrared LED module with onboard photocell is included. The infrared LED module is capable of detecting ambient light intensity and adjust the threshold of infrared light accordingly. Wtih this camera moduel, you can convert Raspberry Pi into powerful night vision system.
Because of the high power required by the two infrared LED, a 5V 2A power adapter is recommended to power both the Pi and camera. Flaky behavior and crashes may result if low current power adpater is used.
The camera is supported in the latest version of Raspbian, Raspberry Pi's preferred operating system.
